The Learn to Row Course will teach rowing techniques, confidence and safety in coastal boats rowed in protective waters. The boats are very safe and instruction is given by experienced coastal rowers. We cater for all ages from 14 and upwards with training for recreational, competitive and tour rowers.  At the conclusion of the Course you will be able to embark on your own rowing adventure in crewed coastal boats.

LEARN TO ROW COURSE:  All coastal boats and safety equipment is provided. Instruction is supervised by a qualified coach. The course involves 10 instructional sessions, video rowing technique, and instruction on; safety and boating procedures, the use of safety equipment, a practical swim and capsize drills.

COURSE TIMES: Early morning sessions per week (Saturday and two week days).

NEXT COURSE:  

  • Commencing each Tuesday of each month.

SESSIONS: 8 on water sessions and 2 off water sessions. (We regret that sessions missed may not be able to be made up).

NUMBER LIMIT: 4 trainees per Course. 

INSTRUCTION: Under the supervision of Level 1 (Rowing Australia) Coach.

FEES: The Course fee is $265. (Includes Rowing Queensland Limited Insurance for 3 months). There is also a small web site fee and Bank charges. Paying in advance ensures you reserve a position.

ENROLMENT: Via the Coastal Rowing Noosa web site. Click on Membership, then click NEW MEMBER, fill in personal details and select payment catagory Learn to Row Course and sign up with your credit card details. Your registration is now complete.

What to bring: Sunscreen and a water bottle.

Clothing: Loose clothing can get caught in equipment so close-fitting items are good, cap for sun protection. Water shoes for launching boats.

Facilities: Toilets and outside showers are available.

Safety: The boats are inherently safe and stable, however applicants should know that there are dangers in any water sport so the following conditions apply:

  • Participants must satisfy themselves that they do not suffer from or do not contract any medical condition which precludes them from undertaking this activity.
  • Participants must be able to swim 100m when dressed in rowing clothes.

COURSE COMPLETION: On successful completion you will obtain a "Certificate of Competency" If you decide to continue rowing you can apply for Club Membership.

Coastal Rowers are a friendly lot who enjoy rowing in the upper Noosa River, World Heritage National Park, the Noosa River and Laguna Bay. Many of our members row on Tour both in Australia and Overseas. We look forward to seeing you on our next Course.
